HAPPY MONDAYS STAR IN COP DRAMA
Former HAPPY MONDAYS bassist PAUL RYDER was at the centre of a police swoop by the New York Police Department after they thought he was directing a plot to kill them.
The British star was shooting a music video with new band Big Arm in New York when confused cops thought Ryder was planning to gun them down - when instead he just wanted to film footage of them.
Angel Pannetonne, the video's director, says, "He saw a cop car approaching and started shouting to the camera operator. 'Shoot the cops, shoot the cops'.
"Because he was wearing headphones, he didn't realise how loud his voice was. They obviously heard him, screeched to a halt and all hell broke loose."
Ryder was apprehended and frisked by police officers, before they realised the star was part of a video shoot and he had been directing the camera operator.
