HAMILL WANTED DARTH VADER ROLE
STAR WARS star MARK HAMILL had to be convinced to take on the role of LUKE SKYWALKER in the sci-fi movies - because he was desperate the play the evil DARTH VADER.
After reading the script, Hamill preferred almost every other character apart from his own.
He tells British radio station Heart, "I read the script and I though to myself, 'Well, he's the least interesting character. I'd much rather play Han, the cynical pirate, or Darth Vader.'
"But I guess if I'm too short to play a Storm Trooper then I'm really too short to play Vader."
And Hamill's satisfied he made the right decision - because Skywalker turned into a sex symbol: "It was great fun. I didn't really think about it being talked tough… ever five or ten years after."
