HALLOWEEN BUSINESS FRIGHTFUL
Halloween butchered the weekend box office as many movies were shown to nearempty houses on Friday night. The weekend's top-12 films grossed just$43,995,938 versus $121,451,461 last year, a drop of 39.07 percent,according to box-office trackers Media by Numbers. Attendance for the yearis down 4.53 percent, although box-office revenue is virtually flat. Thesecond week of High School Musical 3 Senior Year remained the box-officechamp, scoring $15.3 million. Three films landed in a virtual dead heat forsecond place. Zack and Miri Make a Porno edged out rivals SawV and Changeling as it took in $10,065,630 compared with$9,741,578 for Saw V and $9,351,560 for Changeling.
