HALLIWELL LAUNCHES BIRTHING CAMPAIGN

GERI HALLIWELL has launched a campaign to help provide better care for women during childbirth.
The former Spice Girls star joined Sarah Brown, wife of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, at the country's House of Commons on Wednesday (06May09) to highlight a new parliamentary report which claims over 20 million women suffer debilitating injuries during the birth process each year.
And Halliwell has thrown her support behind a campaign organised by the White Ribbon Alliance charity, which is calling on governments around the world to provide more midwifes and family planning services.
She says, "Women are at the heart of their families, communities and countries. Their health and survival has a huge impact on the economy and the environment, and on peace and stability. This is not about charity - this is about humanity."
Halliwell, 36, has a two-year-old daughter, Bluebell.
