HAGGARD TO BE HONOURED AS BMI ICON

Country music legend MERLE HAGGARD will be honoured as a Broadcast Music Inc (BMI) Icon at the performing rights organisation's 54th Annual Country Awards. Past honorees include DOLLY PARTON, BILL ANDERSON, LORETTA LYNN and CHARLIE DANIELS. Haggard's 40-plus years in the music business have earned him numerous awards, as well as inductions into the Country Music Hall Of Fame and the Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame. The award ceremony will be held on 4 November (06) in Nashville, Tennessee.
