GUY PAYS TRIBUTE TO CLAPTON AT CROSSROADS ALL-STAR JAM
Blues star BUDDY GUY halted his headlining Crossroads Festival slot in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday (28Jul07) to pay tribute to the event's organiser - ERIC CLAPTON.
Guy ended an 11-hour show at Toyota Park, where 28,000 music fans caught performances by Clapton, Guy, B.B. King, John Mayer and Jeff Beck, among other guitar greats.
And Guy summed up the occasion when he paid tribute to Clapton, stating, "What a wonderful job this man has done. If we had more people in this world like him, it would be a better place."
The concert was staged to raise funds for Clapton's Crossroads Centre rehabilitation clinic in Antigua.
Clapton also had a tribute planned - he remembered late pal George Harrison by performing the late Beatle's Isn't It A Pity, and saluted Bo Diddley's recovery from a recent stroke with a version of the bluesman's Who Do You Love.
Other highlights included Clapton jams with Robbie Robertson and his former Blind Faith bandmate Steve Winwood, who Clapton said he'd been "waiting to play with for 25 years".
The concert started on a funny note when host Bill Murray attempted to play Gloria.
Other acts to perform at the star-studded show included Clapton's one-time lover Sheryl Crow, Albert Lee and country stars Alison Krauss, Vince Gill and Willie Nelson.

Eric Clapton should not be listed as a lover to Crow, he was never a boyfriend
or lover. The fact of the matter is that she kept calling, kept showing up
where he went, and he couldn't get rid of her. I don't think he EVER ask her
out, it just wasn't that kind of deal, but he knew right away he didn't want
her. Other women have played the same game and Eric has been around plenty long
enough to see how she is useing him to promote herself. He may refer to her as
a friend but he rarely calls a woman a girlfriend, unless he's the one doing
the chaseing and catching, he don't refer to short term flings as haveing
meaning to him. Once Crow got her foot in the door there was not stopping her
from the exploitation she created, it was never THEM it was always HER.

Eric Clapton never dated S. Crow, I don't think he EVER ask her out, what
happened is she kept calling, still does, showing up where ever he goes, still
does, and inviting herself, still does. If she had any respect for him she
would quit forceing herself into his life and forceing the subject of lover,
there was no lover in that little fling. What shes doing is makeing all men
back off so she can't exploit them. That is one reason she don't last long with
a man, there are other reasons but I won't waste time on it.
