GUEST: 'I DON'T WATCH AWARD SHOWS'

Director CHRISTOPHER GUEST is refusing to take any part in the upcoming awards season, because he fears industry accolades "change people". The 58-year-old examines the hype and hysteria of the Oscars race in new comedy FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION, but he shuns the red carpet in reality for fear it will change his career outlook for the worse. He tells Empire magazine, "I don't watch award shows. The whole thing is strange to me. All that need for attention. "There's this famous picture of FAYE DUNAWAY the morning after she won her Oscar, just looking... it's a really harrowing photograph because then you realise, 'And now what?' It changes people, winning or losing, in strange ways."
