GUCCI MANE SCRAPS FLORIDA UNIVERSITY GIG

Troubled rapper GUCCI MANE has been forced to scrap an upcoming gig in Florida, following a series of legal problems and protests from students.
The controversial hip-hop star was due to headline the Gucci Mane and Friends concert at the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) on 24 October (09).
The billing whipped up a storm amongst students on campus, who objected to the appearance due to the star's alleged gang ties and violent lyrics.
But now Gucci Mane's critics have got their way after the rapper was forced to pull out of the concert for legal reasons.
Mane is currently under house arrest in Georgia and is due in court two days after the gig (26Oct09) to answer allegations of parole violation. He reportedly failed to secure permission from a judge to travel to the concert, according to Allhiphop.com.
Fellow rapper Plies has been booked as a replacement.
Concert promoter Willie MCKenzie tells the university's student magazine The Famuan, "Gucci was booked and paid to come. I got a call last week (from Gucci Mane’s lawyer) saying his court date had been pushed to the Monday after the show and the judge would have to approve him to leave the state (of Georgia)."
Gucci Mane is still scheduled to play at the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University's homecoming gig on 31 October (09).
The gig was also hit by a series of student protest, forcing the school to withdraw support for the event.
