GROENING OUTRAGED ELFMAN WITH BAD REVIEW
THE SIMPSONS iconic score was almost never written - after composer DANNY ELFMAN realised the cartoon's creator MATT GROENING once gave his music band a bad review.
Groening was a rock critic in his youth, and on one occasion had to review Danny Elfman's former band Oingo Boingo - but his review didn't go down well with the celebrated film composer.
Groening says, "I used to be a rock critic many years ago. I once saw Oingo Boingo and I gave them a bad review. I outraged Danny Elfman so much that he actually wrote a letter to the editor of the paper.
"But when I did The Simpsons I wanted Elfman to do the score. And I thought 'He will never remember' - and he remembered. He has forgiven me now."
