GREER CRITICISES RSC
Feminist icon GERMAINE GREER has blasted the Royal Shakespeare Company for failing to do enough to entice tourists.
The Female Eunuch author has criticised the company for not making Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare, tourist-friendly.
She recently went to a showing of King Lear there, starring a naked Sir Ian MCKellen, and was not impressed with what she saw.
She says, "I didn't go there to see Sir Ian MCKellen's tackle - but that was thrown into the bargain. I went there to see Shakespeare.
"But why was it that there is nowhere to eat and there is nowhere to sleep and you cannot find a parking space?
"Why is it the RSC has not done anything really significant with Stratford?"
