GREEN DAY SET FOR MARATHON SHOWS TO CHALLENGE SPRINGSTEEN

Fans of GREEN DAY are in for a value-for-money treat when the punk trio hits the road this year (09) - frontman BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG is eager to play four-hour long concerts.
The American Idiot hitmakers are preparing to tour to promote new album 21st Century Breakdown, which was released on Friday (15May09) - and their shows are likely to be long affairs.
Armstrong was inspired by Bruce Springsteen, who has put on mammoth five-hour shows in the past - and he wants Green Day to rival the Born In The U.S.A. singer by performing for "anywhere from two to four hours."
He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "We want to give Springsteen a run for his money. I think his longest show is maybe five hours, I think Green Day's got six!"
