GREAT WHITE BENEFIT CONCERT RAISES $175,000
TWISTED SISTER rocker DEE SNIDER's benefit concert for the survivors of the GREAT WHITE fire tragedy raised $175,000 (GBP87,500). Stars including Winger, Stryper, Staind's Aaron Lewis, Boston's Tom Scholz and Gretchen Wilson teamed up to play the 25 February (08) fundraiser - organised by Snider and Tesla's Troy Luccketta - at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island. The concert, which will be broadcast on U.S. TV network VH1 on Easter Sunday (23Mar08), was staged to raise money to benefit the Station Family Fund, an organisation set up to help pay the survivors' medical bills. One hundred Great White fans were killed when a blaze swept through Rhode Island's The Station nightclub in 2003. The band's guitarist Ty Longley also perished and more than 200 were injured.
