GREAT WHITE BANDMATES ASK TO BE REMOVED FROM BLAZE CASE

Members of rock group GREAT WHITE have filed legal papers in a bid to distance themselves from those responsible for a 2003 nightclub fire which cost 100 people their lives. Bandmates MARK KENDALL, DAVID FILICE and ERIC POWERS have asked to be dismissed from lawsuits stemming from the tragedy, which took place after an ill-advised pyrotechnics display went awry. The three rockers insist they had no knowledge of the fiery stage show and feel they shouldn't suffer just because they were on the same stage as others responsible for the blaze at The Station nightclub in Rhode Island. Kendall, Filice and Powers filed court papers on Thursday (05APR07) seeking to be removed from the case. The band was sued in federal court by fire survivors and victims' relatives. The group's tour manager is in prison after pleading guilty to igniting the pyrotechnics.
