GRAY DEMANDED SHE PLAY BROTHEL MADAM
Singer MACY GRAY was so determined to play a brothel hostess in new OUTKAST movie IDLEWILD, director BRYAN BARBER was afraid of turning her down. The I TRY star made it clear she wanted the part of ghetto madam TAFFY in the all-black period drama. And Barber admits he was so impressed by her direct approach he cast her in the role. He recalls, "I've known MACy for a while and I told her about the movie and she said, 'You'd better not give my part away!' "MACy has this edgy charm that's like some madam from that era. She's a woman you don't want rub the wrong way, cos she's likely to pull a switchblade out and cut off your pinkie!"
