GRATEFUL DEAD GRANT FIRST EVER SAMPLE APPROVAL
American band ANIMAL COLLECTIVE have scored a music coup - they're the first band ever allowed to sample rock legends GRATEFUL DEAD.
The New York-based group will use a segment of Unbroken Chain in new track What Would I Want Sky, after they were granted approval by the surviving members of the '60s band.
According to Animal Collective's management company, Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh persuaded his bandmates to approve the sample because he "loved" what they had come up with.
