GRANT BOVEY CAN'T STAND THE HEAT IN HELL'S KITCHEN
Grant Bovey has become the second celebrity sacked from the new series of Hell's Kitchen.
The 48-year-old, husband of former Blue Peter presenter Anthea Turner, was given the boot by Marco Pierre White for failing to contribute to his team's effort to create a sauce to accompany meat or fish.
Turner, also 48, was shown sobbing on the floor after her husband's departure on the ITV1 show.
Bovey, a property manager, said he was "obviously disappointed" to be sacked and felt the show had been going "remarkably well".
Passing judgement after the task, head chef White told team leader Niomi Daley, better known as Ms Dynamite, that she had allowed herself to be intimidated by Bovey.
"Marco I think the term is gentle persuasion," Bovey argued, to which White replied: "Some people would call it manipulation."
White told Bovey his failing was that "you didn't show me any humility round this table tonight".
"In service you preferred to sink than ask for help you are not a team player that's what you've proven to me tonight," he added.
"You are a leader, you're a boss - that kitchen is not big enough for two bosses. I am the boss of Hell's Kitchen."
Leaving the kitchen, Bovey asked White: "Promise me one thing, Marco - take care of Anthea?"
White solemnly answered: "You have my word, as a man".
Bovey follows Shameless actor Jody Latham out of the kitchen while Adrian Edmondson and Bruce Grobbelaar remain the favourites.
