GRAHAM COXON TALKS SUICIDE, SAUSAGES AND SKIRTS

The battle between BLUR'S COUNTRY HOUSE and OASIS' ROLL WITH IT almost drove GRAHAM COXON to suicide, the guitarist has revealed.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he explained how the band's triumph in beating their Manchester-based rivals to the number one spot had felt like a "hollow, pointless victory".

In order to celebrate the event, Blur's record label threw a party, but Coxon simply wanted to be left in peace.

He said: "I couldn't handle being part of that crowd so I tried to jump out of a sixth-storey window. It was Damon [Albarn] who talked me out of it."

The event was not the only low point for Coxon during the 1990s, with the guitarist also recounting the time he was caught stealing sausages from a shop in Camden.

Chased by the butcher through London, the Blur guitarist eventually received a "very firm punch in the jaw" in return for the theft.

"Also, I happened to be wearing a denim skirt and there was a busload of people watching. It wasn't my proudest moment," Coxon revealed.

He went on to add that he could have enjoyed himself more than he did during his time in Blur.

However, Coxon gave up drink seven years ago, released solo hits like FREAKIN OUT, and is now set to rejoin his former band mates for a series of summer gigs.

Recently, the guitarist revealed that he settled his differences with singer Albarn over an Eccles cake, which made them realise that whatever problems there had been between them in the past had now been settled.
