GOSLING RALLIES FOR CHICKENS
THE NOTEBOOK star RYAN GOSLING has joined celebrities waging war against the
bosses of fast food chain KFC over the conditions in their poultry
slaughterhouses.
The Oscar-nominated actor has fired off a letter on behalf of People For the
Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to John Bitove, who oversees KFC Canada,
urging him to stop the ongoing abuse of fowl supplied to his restaurants.
Gosling calls on Bitove to implement meaningful animal welfare reforms,
stating, "The time is ripe to do the right thing.
He adds, "By adopting the basic recommendations made by PETA and scientific
experts (including raising birds in a more natural manner and employing less
cruel slaughter methods), you could dramatically improve the lives and deaths
of chickens raised and killed for KFC Canada."
Celebrities who have fired off letters about the KFC abuses in the past
include pop star Pink and Pamela Anderson.
