GOODREM 'MARRIAGE BAN' NOT DUE TO SMOKING

LATEST: Australian singer DELTA GOODREM's marriage to BRIAN MCFADDEN has been postponed due to their busy careers - and not the former Westlife star's smoking habit. The couple were reported to have put their impending marriage on hold due to MCFadden's nicotine addiction, after Goodrem's father implored the 27-year-old to give up cigarettes. MCFadden told reporters earlier this week (ends04Jan08), "He gave me 'the dad speech' and said I could wed Delta but there was one condition - 'You can't marry her unless you stop smoking'. I said I would but not for a while. I'll have to push back the wedding until I do it." But a spokesperson for Goodrem has denied MCFadden's smoking would cause the marriage to be pushed back. She says, "Yes Brian and Delta's father Dennis did discuss the need for him to cut down on his smoking. But that's not the reason they haven't set a date for the wedding yet and it's looking more likely to be next year. "It's due to the fact their careers are occupying most of their time in 2008." The couple announced their engagement in November (07).
