GLEN CAMPBELL 'GOES ROCK'

Glen Campbell has announced he is to release an album of cover versions, with some choices perhaps not readily associated with the country legend.

Meet Glen Campbell is to hit stores in the US on August 19th and will feature ten songs that have "moved and inspired" the veteran performer.

Among the acts that he will covering on the album are U2, FOO FIGHTERS, GREEN DAY and TRAVIS.

Speaking in a statement, Campbell said he has "reinterpreted and re-imagined both older and contemporary songs with his own signature vocal and guitar arrangements".

The tracklisting will be completed with songs originally performed by JOHN LENNON, TOM PETTY, JACKSON BROWNE, VELVET UNDERGROUND and THE REPLACEMENTS.

Another country legend, JOHNNY CASH, took a similar approach to unusual cover versions in the latter part of his career, recording songs by bands as diverse as NINE INCH NAILS, DEPECHE MODE and SOUNDGARDEN.
