GLASVEGAS SCOOP XFM AWARD
GLASVEGAS have claimed XFM's New Music Award 2009 for their eponymous debut album.
The final ten albums were voted for by the public after a panel of judges scaled down the initial list of 49.
SNOW PATROL frontman Gary Lightbody, Gavin And Stacey actor Mathew Horne and RADIOHEAD producer John Leckie were among those who considered the original nominations.
The Scottish band held off strong competition from the likes of THE TING TINGS and THE COURTENEERS.
"It's a first class debut album in that it is memorable, passionate and well formed," Leckie told the BBC.
"Every track is a winner, leaves you wanting more and wondering what will come next. I wish I'd produced it."
GLASVEGAS charted at number two when it was released last September.
THE ENEMY bagged the award last year for their debut album WE'LL LIVE AND DIE IN THESE TOWNS.
Former Creation boss Alan McGee recently claimed that GLASVEGAS could become the "biggest band in the world".
