GLASTONBURY REGISTRATION EXTENDED
People wishing to register for Glastonbury festival tickets have been given more time to do so.
The deadline for registration had been set for midnight tonight but a rush in tickets has led to the time being extended by five days to midnight on Monday March 5th.
Organiser Michael Eavis said that he made the decision after 1,200 registrations were made per hour yesterday.
Unlike previous years people keen to go to the three-day festival must register first. The move was introduced in an attempt to crack down on touting.
Details that need to be supplied include personal information and a passport-sized photograph.
Only people who have registered will be able to buy tickets when they go on sale on April 1st, although registration does not guarantee a ticket.
"It's a much fairer system," said Mr Eavis. "It means unscrupulous people won't be able to sell their tickets on for a profit. The people who buy the tickets on April 1st will be the people who are actually coming to the festival."
This year's festival takes place on June 22nd-24th and artists performing include Arctic Monkeys, The Who and Bjork.
