GILMOUR LAYS INTO GLASTO
David Gilmour has criticised the Glastonbury festival, claiming that he was denied the chance to play the event with his PINK FLOYD bandmate Rick Wright.
Keyboard player Wright who was one of the founding members of the hugely successful rock group passed away last month.
Collecting an Outstanding Contribution award from Q magazine yesterday, Gilmour said it was one of Wright's last wishes to play a large outdoor event.
"One of the last things he wanted to do, in this last year, was to do a big outdoor festival, such as Glastonbury.
"We weren't able to do that due to all sorts of strange reasons, which, again, is a sadness."
Gilmour offered to play a Pink Floyd set at the festival this year, but was turned down.
Festival organiser Emily Eavis told BBC 6 Music said she was "upset" to hear the comments, but stressed that they could not remove an existing headliner at such short notice.
