GIBSON'S WIFE FILES FOR DIVORCE

MEL GIBSON's 28-year marriage appears to be over - his wife, ROBYN, has filed for divorce.
The legal documents, obtained by TMZ.com, were filed in Los Angeles on Monday (13Apr09). The actor's wife has cited "irreconcilable differences" for the split.
The Gibsons wed in 1980 and have seven children.
In the legal papers, Robyn is seeking joint physical and legal custody of the couple's youngest son, Tom - their only minor child. She is also asking for spousal support and attorneys fees.
Robyn has reportedly hired Laura Wasser to represent her in the case; Wasser has handled divorces for Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears and Stevie Wonder.
The couple, who reportedly has no prenuptial agreement, have vowed not to release further details regarding their split.
A spokesperson for Mel and Robyn Gibson has issued a statement that reads, "Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so."
