GIBSONS SPLIT A MONTH AFTER ACTOR'S DUI ARREST

MEL GIBSON and his wife ROBYN split a month after his drink driving arrest in 2006, according to new documents filed by the actor.
In his response to Robyn's divorce petition, which was filed on Monday (13Apr09), the movie star offered a specific date of separation - 26 August, 2006.
In July 2006, Gibson was arrested for drinking under the influence. During the traffic stop, the actor hurled anti-Semitic comments at the arresting officer.
The actor's wife has cited "irreconcilable differences" for the split and she is seeking joint physical and legal custody of the couple's youngest son, Tom - their only minor child, who turns 10 on Tuesday (14Apr09). She is also asking for spousal support and attorneys fees.
Robyn has hired top divorce lawyer Laura Wasser to represent her in the case; Wasser has handled divorces for Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears and Stevie Wonder.
