GIBSON'S ARRESTING OFFICER IN THE CLEAR OVER MEDIA LEAK

Prosecutors investigating media leaks following MEL GIBSON's 2006 drink driving arrest have declined to file criminal charges against the cop who allegedly tipped website TMZ.com off about anti-Semitic remarks the actor made to the arresting officer.
Phone records show two calls were made from Sheriff's Deputy James Mee's home to TMZ.com on the day of Gibson's arrest, but they couldn't determine who made the calls or who leaked portions of the cop's report.
Sheriff’s supervisors attempted to prevent details of Gibson’s inflammatory anti-Jewish remarks from becoming public - a sheriff’s captain reportedly ordered Mee to rewrite his initial report to remove the actor’s controversial statements.
Gibson was compelled to apologise to Jewish leaders after the comments he made while he was being arrested were made public.
The actor won his court battle to wipe the drink driving charge from his police record earlier this week (beg05Oct09).
Gibson successfully attended a 12-step alcohol abuse programme for 11 months, underwent an alcohol abuse education course, and also handed over his driver's license for 90 days as part of his rehabilitation.
