GIBSON HAS NO PLANS TO REPORT FROM IRAQ
Charles Gibson is apparently not chomping at the bit to go to Iraq. In an interview with the Kansas City Star, Gibson said that the primary reason he is the only one of the three major network news anchors not to visit the war zone is that "as a news organization we've just had a terrible experience with Bob Woodruff," Gibson's predecessor in the anchor chair, who was critically wounded in January 2006. "David Westin and I have had a number of discussions about when it would be valuable for me to go over and David has just been very reluctant to have me go. I understand, and there's been nothing so compelling for me to go." Moreover, he noted, the network already has Martha Raddatz, an accomplished correspondent, covering the war. "She's over there right now. I think overall, our coverage is better than anybody's."
