GERVAIS TEASES COLDPLAY STAR

British funnyman RICKY GERVAIS has used his new series of his star-studded TV show EXTRAS to take a good-natured swipe at COLDPLAY singer CHRIS MARTIN. The THE OFFICE star interviews Martin, who plays himself in the show, and he promptly sends up his image as a socially responsible do-gooder. Gervais' character asks Martin questions such as, "You prefer clothes made in Third World sweatshops because they're cheaper. Do you prefer Chinese or Indian?" When Martin tries to explain he simply likes Indian clothes, Gervais changes the subject. He asks, "And at a political party conference a while back, you made a rousing speech saying that if hunting was ever completely banned, you'd quit the country. Why are you still here?" He then quips, "You named your child APPLE after the massive computer firm. How much did you get for that?"
