GERVAIS CELEBRATED GOLDEN GLOBES WIN IN PYJAMAS

British comedian RICKY GERVAIS was relieved the annual Golden Globes celebrations had been cancelled, because he hates having to dress up for awards shows. The 2008 ceremony was replaced with a low-key press conference on Sunday (13Jan08), after Hollywood stars refused to cross the Writers Guild of America picket lines. And Gervais - who won the Best TV Comedy prize for his hit show Extras - decided against watching the winners' announcement live on television - preferring to spend his time in the comfort of his bed. He says, "I'm not gonna get up at 3am to watch the awards. At least this year I didn't have to wear a dickie bow (bow tie). I found out in my pyjamas in my bed, and then I turned my phone on and people started ringing."
