RICHARD GERE's butt double was left on the sidelines of his new movie, because the 57-year-old actor insisted on revealing his own backside. In The Hunting Party the actor plays a veteran war correspondent on an assignment in Bosnia with his protege, played by Terrence Howard. Filmmakers recruited a double to strip off for a scene where Gere's character is forced to strip off on an airport run-way. Director Richard Shepard tells New York gossip column PageSix, "We had a butt double standing by." But Gere insisted on playing the full part. Shepard adds, "It didn't take a lot" to convince Gere to undress.
