GEORGE MICHAEL TO CHRISTEN WEMBLEY STADIUM

British pop singer GEORGE MICHAEL will perform the first ever concert at the new Wembley Stadium in London in June (07). Last year (06), BON JOVI, ROBBIE WILLIAMS and ROLLING STONES were forced to cancel their scheduled gigs at the huge venue after a series of delays hit the rebuilding of the legendary sports arena. Michael will perform in front of 90,000 fans on 9 June (07) as part of his European stadium tour, following the success of his 25 Live tour last year (06). ALEX HORNE, managing director of Wembley Stadium, says, "He's no stranger to this great stage having performed at the old stadium with both WHAM! at Live Aid and as a solo artist. "This is a fitting first gig in the new stadium. We are looking forward to putting the stadium back on the world map as a major music destination."
