GELDOF TICKET FIASCO
An embarrassed SIR BOB GELDOF has been forced to axe two concerts in Italy at the last minute after selling a meager 345 tickets. The rocker was due to play Milan and Rome but jetted back to England last night (23JUL06) after only 45 fans showed up to the 12,000 capacity Arena Civica venue in Milan. He subsequently cancelled the show in Rome, which saw ticket sales slump at just 300 out of a possible 15,000. Fans who did turn up to hear the Live Aid organiser and former BOOMTOWN RATS singer staged a furious protest outside his hotel branding the rocker a "crook" for his absence. He apologised to the crowds saying, "I'm sorry for you but it's not my fault. The conditions are not right." His Italian tour promoter FRANCESCO IACOVONE added, "I really don't understand how this could have happened. Bob's website has 19,000 hits a day from Italy. "Obviously we will refund all those who bought tickets but we are also looking at how the sales were organised and may well consider legal action if we feel something untoward happened." Iacovone insisted some websites had falsely claimed the gigs had sold out.
