GELDOF COLLECTS HONORARY DOCTORATE

Campaigning rocker BOB GELDOF was yesterday (08JAN06) awarded an honorary doctorate from Newcastle University, England in recognition of his charity work with Make Poverty History. Geldof collected his Doctor Of Civil Law degree, honouring his Live 8 work in 2005, alongside British government chancellor GORDON BROWN. And the former BOOMTOWN RATS frontman took the time to thank both Brown and British Prime Minister TONY BLAIR. He said, "If there wasn't Brown and Blair, I can't imagine where we would have gone."
