GAY RIGHTS OFFICIALS PRAISE TV WEDDING

U.S. gay rights activists are saluting TV bosses at ABC for staging the first same sex marriage between cast regulars in a hit TV show.
The event will air on Brothers + Sisters this weekend (11May08) when Matthew Rhys and Luke MACFarlane's characters Kevin and Scotty are joined in a commitment ceremony.
Neil G. Giuliano, the President of the Gay + Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), says, "We applaud ABC for highlighting Kevin and Scotty's declaration of commitment to each other in the presence of their family and friends.
"Kevin and Scotty's ceremony reflects the ongoing commitment of Brothers + Sisters and ABC to making visible the multi-dimensional lives of gay characters."
MCFarlane 'came out' as a gay man in real-life last month (Apr08).
