The 'Bad Boys' singer would love to have a male fan base similar to those of Madonna and Kylie Minogue because she feels closest to her gay friends.

She said: "I love gay men. They're the only ones that I can trust. My friends Cormac and Dwayne are the most beautiful spirits in my life and I can trust them with my heart.

"I would love to be a gay icon, but I've got a lot of hard work to do first."

The 21-year-old songstress admits most of her respect for gay men stems from the way her pals have been unaffected by her quick rise to fame after winning UK TV talent show 'The X Factor' last year.

She explained: "Gay males and straight females get along more than women and straight guys. My gay friends don't treat me any differently - they're just normal and great spirits to be around. And you can be naked in front of them."
