GAY CALIFORNIANS APPEAL TO CLOONEY AND PITT TO BUY BAR

Customers of a Californian gay bar have taken out a magazine advertisement, appealing to BRAD PITT and GEORGE CLOONEY to buy the premises. Two years ago (05), a false report linked the Ocean's Twelve co-stars to the Boom Boom Room in Laguna Beach, Orange County, claiming the actors had co-invested in the bar/hotel. At the time, Clooney's spokesman Stan Rosenfeld said, "I don't know who started that rumour, but it's not true." However, the Boom Boom Room is now for sale again and its current clientele are appealing for Clooney and Pitt to help save the 60-year-old building, over fears it may be converted into a boutique hotel. A group have formed to save the bar and they have placed an ad in trade magazine Variety, asking for the actors' help. It reads, "We are appealing to both of you to buy our 60 year old landmark before it is converted into a boutique hotel. Both of you are true leaders in human and civil rights."
