GARLAND'S 'FORGOTTEN' CHILDHOOD RECORDINGS FOR SALE
JUDY GARLAND's childhood recordings are expected to sell for around $40,000 (GBP20,500) when they are publicly auctioned later this month (DEC06).
The two previously-unheard acetate discs were discovered in the rubbish at one of Garland's former homes in Beverly Hills, California.
The songs were taped in a Hollywood recording studio in March 1935, when a 12-year-old Garland sang GOOD SHIP LOLLYPOP, OBJECT OF MY AFFECTIONS and DINAH, accompanied by her mother on piano.
Author SCOTT SCHECHTER, who penned JUDY GARLAND: THE DAY-BY-DAY CHRONICLE OF A LEGEND, believes the recordings stand testament to Garland's talent, even at an early age.
He says, "It is obvious that even at the age of 12, Judy Garland was magical all on her own - before MGM. These first-ever Garland records are pure, priceless, and true showbusiness history."
The discs will go under the hammer at Bonhams And Butterfields auctioneers in Los Angeles on 17 December.
