GAHAN LEFT RED-FACED AFTER CHILE SHOUT-OUT
Rockers DEPECHE MODE faced the wrath of their Peruvian fans on Tuesday (13Oct09), after frontman DAVE GAHAN gave a shout-out to the wrong country.
The trio is currently on the South American leg of its world tour, and played to 30,000 ecstatic fans in Peru's capital Lima.
But the band faced a chorus of boos as Gahan thanked neighbouring Chile for the warm reception.
The mistake was made worse as Peru and Chile are fierce historical rivals - the two nations went to war in 1879.
