FURTADO: 'SALES DROP WAS THE BEST THING'
NELLY FURTADO is pleased her second album underperformed compared to her first - because it allowed her to re-evaluate her life.
The Maneater star's debut release Whoa, Nelly! in 2000 sold more than five million copies worldwide, but its 2003 follow-up Folklore only shifted two million.
But Furtado was philosophical about the decrease in sales.
She says, "It’s important to fail in order to evolve. I wouldn’t say my second album was a failure but, commercially, it wasn’t as good as my first.
"That was the best thing that could have happened to me. It meant that everything slowed down and I was finally able to take stock of my life."
