FRY, DEE AND BRYDON WITHOUT A CLUE FOR RADIO 4

Hosting duties for the coming series of Radio 4 comedy show I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue will be shared by Stephen Fry, Jack Dee and Rob Brydon.

Due to begin recording in April, the new series will be the first since the death of former host Humphrey Lyttelton in April last year.

Gavin and Stacey actor Brydon, who like Fry and Dee has appeared as a panellist on the Radio 4 favourite, said becoming a new presenter was "not really a question of filling Humph's shoes because that couldn't be done - he was a complete one-off".

"I'm a real latecomer to it, I only came to it about three years ago but I'm so proud to be a small part of it and this is really just about continuing that lovely atmosphere," the Welsh comedian explained.

"People don't do it for the money, they do it for the enjoyment of it and it's a unique radio show and one that I think we're all hugely proud of."

He added: "It's a unique atmosphere on that show of such warmth that I've never really found on any other show and I think it's important for people to realise that it's a group of friends playing games together."

Lyttelton had been chairman of the show since its 1972 inception and died in 2008 after complications during a surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm.

Comedian Barry Cryer, a regular panellist since the show began, admitted Lyttelton's were "big shoes to fill".

"It was a strange sort of watershed when dear Humph went, there was a relatively small movement that you must never do this show again," he added.

"And then a torrent of e-mails and stuff came in saying you must go on, you must go on.

"It's no disrespect to Humph at all.

"It's just people want the show to carry on and we'll be pleased to do it, even without the great man."
