FRUSCIANTE TALKS NEW ALBUM
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS guitarist John Frusciante has been discussing his forthcoming solo album.
Members of the hugely-popular US rock outfit have been concentrating on outside projects of late, given that the band is currently on a lengthy hiatus.
Frusciante has been working with bandmate Flea and former SMITHS guitarist Johnny Marr on new material.
He told Music Radar about the process of making the new record, which is entitled THE EMPYREAN.
"The drive to create music that is pure is my highest priority. Sometimes I'll get extremely technical in my approach, and other times I'll just kind of go with the gods of music," he explained.
"I think an artist has to answer to whatever spirits are guiding him. Even if they're in conflict, that's OK."
He added that there are currently no plans for the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS to record in the near future.
The album, which is his tenth solo outing, will be released on January 20th.
