FRIENDS' DEATH SOURS CLEESE'S MARRIAGE

JOHN CLEESE's second marriage failed because he couldn't get over the death of a number of close friends, according to reports. The Monty Python star announced earlier this month that he and his wife, psychotherapist Alyce Faye Eichelberger, were divorcing after 19 years of marriage. The split was caused by a "period of melancholy" brought on by the funerals of several of Cleese's pals, sources tell the Sydney Daily Telegraph. A friend tells the newspaper, "They just have felt that the relationship is not going to continue and I think they are very sad but fairly resolved about it."
