FREARS TELLS CLOONEY: 'RUN FOR PRESIDENT'

GEORGE CLOONEY is being urged to run for US president by his close friend, British director STEPHEN FREARS. Politically-minded Clooney has dismissed rumours linking him with a White House campaign, but Frears is convinced he's the best man for the top job. THE QUEEN director Frears says, "He'd make a great president. George is straightforward and in touch with the people." But Clooney insists, "I'd be a terrible candidate. I have absolutely no patience for compromise. The job I have now is the best in the world."
