FOXX WAXWORK UNVEILING MARKS BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Actor JAMIE FOXX has been immortalised in wax by the famed Madame Tussauds museum to mark the start of America's Black History Month this February (08). The $300,000 (GBP150,000) statue, which was unveiled at the Las Vegas branch of the museum earlier this month (Feb08), joins other notable African-American figures already on display as part of the exhibition - including Muhammad Ali, Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey. Each figure on display has been accompanied with a brief biography acknowledging the significant contributions they have made to shape American history. The Dreamgirls star sat with Tussauds studio artists from London for two hours in order for them to take precise measurements and match his exact eye, skin and hair colouring. And Adrian Jones, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, admits Foxx's waxwork has been a long time coming. He says, "Jamie Foxx was a natural choice for us. "He not only embodies the upper echelon of celebrity that we look to celebrate, but what he represents to the black community, and Americans as a whole, is the ability to take born-talent, drive and commitment and transform them into something magical. "He has rated high with our customers for some time, and we are happy to deliver what our customers have asked for."
