FORMER BEACH BOYS SETTLE LEGAL DISPUTE OVER NAME

Two former members of the Beach Boys have settled a five-year row over the legal use of the bands name.

Mike Love sued Al Jardine in 2003, claiming he was the only person authorized to use the name.

Jardine's attorney Lawrence Noble said the two reached an agreement after a two-day conference in Superior Court.

"Mr Jardine feels very happy and feels that this is a friendly settlement that allows them to focus on the talent and future of this American iconic band," Mr Noble said.

Love had been seeking $2 million (£1 million) in court costs and $1 million (£504,000) he said Jardine collected from using the name.

The details of the settlement were not disclosed.

The Beach Boys were formed in 1961 by singer-musician-composer Brian Wilson, his brothers, Carl and Dennis, their cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine.
