FONDA RECOVERING FROM KNEE SURGERY

Veteran actress JANE FONDA is recovering from knee replacement surgery.
The 71-year-old star checked in for an operation to replace her left knee with a titanium rod and ceramic joint on Tuesday (16Jun09), and she shared the experience with fans, updating her Twitter.com site right up until the anaesthetic knocked her out.
Her last message, which included a picture of her knee, read, "Lying on a guerney (sic). Drugs are starting to hit. Wheeee. So long left knee. You're toast!"
In other messages, Fonda reminisced about her doomed joint, insisting it had been "strong and faithful" to her, and even divulging that her ex-husband Roger Vadim "liked to kiss my knees," adding, "He was French".
And, in a posting on her website, the actress vowed to defy medics' warnings her new knee will only give her 80 per cent mobility.
The fitness fanatic wrote, "By this time next year, I will have come out with a whole new line of workout products for maintaining muscle mass and flexibility and I will be doing them myself. 80 per cent my a**!"
