FONDA ENDS PLAY EARLY
JANE FONDA has been forced to end her run on Broadway early due to a conflicting schedule issue.
The curtain will fall on Moises Kaufman's 33 Variations on Thursday (21May09) because of a weekend engagement the actress couldn't reschedule.
The limited engagement was supposed to close on Sunday (24May09).
Producer David Binder tells BroadwayWorld.com, "Jane has had a scheduling conflict on her calendar for several months, but, despite many efforts to work around her schedule, we all agreed today that it is best to close on Thursday."
Fonda made her return to New York theatre in the play after 47 years away from the stage. The play was nominated for three Drama Desk Awards including Outstanding Actress in a Play for Fonda.
