FLORENCE WELCH'S FAME HATE
Florence and the Machine star Florence Welch was worried she wouldn't be able to match the hype she received and felt ''annoyed'' by all the attention on her before she had released any music.
Florence Welch "never wanted" fame.
The Florence and the Machine singer admits she felt "annoyed" by the attention she received when she was given the Critics' Choice Award - which recognises emerging talent - at this year's BRIT Awards and labelled one of the hottest stars to look for in 2009.
She said: "It didn't change anything but it became annoying, definitely. I found it unnerving because I never wanted to be famous, I just wanted to sing and the thing that was so stressful about January was that I had nothing to show people what I could do besides a couple of singles."
The singer soon settled her nerves by going out on the road to prove to people that she was worth the hype she had received.
She added to Gigwise.com: "It was great to be able to go on tour and play to people, try and show them what all the fuss was about. So now I've played so many shows and the live show has developed into something great and I've done the album too I feel better about having won a BRIT award and all the other crazy stuff."
