FISHBURNE KEPT IN THE DARK OVER CSI ROLE

Actor LAURENCE FISHBURNE had no idea he was in contention for a leading role on CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION - because his representatives completed all of the negotiations without his knowledge.
The star landed a part in the crime drama last year (08), replacing series regular William Petersen.
Petersen announced his departure from the longrunning show last July (08) and sparked wide speculation about who would take over from him.
Internet gossip eventually turned to Fishburne, who initially denied TV bosses were courting him for a role in the series.
But Fishburne admits that at the time he genuinely had no idea he was being considered for the job.
He says, "I was doing theatre in New York and people kept saying, 'Is it true you are joining CSI?' I thought it was crazy.
"Finally I called my people and asked if there was any truth to it and they said, 'Oh yeah, we have been talking to them for a while.'"
