FIRTH WORRIES FOR ELDERLY FANS

Actor COLIN FIRTH is worried his sex appeal may be dangerous for the health of his older fans - after learning an elderly woman was ordered by her doctor to quit watching his work. The 47-year-old insists it was never his intention to become a pin-up - but is flattered by the legions of older female devotees following his career. And proving the most troublesome is his turn as Jane Austen's hero Mr Darcy in the 1995 BBC TV adaptation of Pride And Prejudice. He explains, "I actually find I'm increasingly lusted after by people beyond pensionable age. "I was told the story of a woman in hospital diagnosed with high blood pressure, who was told not to watch any more Pride And Prejudice. She was 103."
